Market Criticism 3/2/09 The Autonomist section of the Independent Individualist is described as a free market of ideas. That means, articles by many different writers with widely different views are published, so long as they are not a direct assault on individual liberty or reason. It does not mean that anyone ought to agree with any of those views, but freedom of speech is only possible where the free exchange of ideas is possible, and where, like any market place, every individual may evaluate what is being offered, using their own best reason and judgment to decide what to "buy" and what to reject. The exchange of ideas is perhaps the most important aspect of Western civilization and true liberty.
From time to time, the Independent Individualist will address some of the ideas presented in The Autonomist articles. That address will occasionally be to praise or emphasize some idea especially well presented, but will usually be a criticism of some idea that we believe is badly mistaken. That criticism is only of the idea or ideas, however, never the writer—in market terms it is a criticism of the merchandise, not the merchant, because we believe the writer's are sincere, and truly not aware there is a problem with the, "merchandise."
These articles will always be labeled, "A Critique."
This also means the Independent Individualist is open to all honest criticism, and invites comments in that vain, or even articles addressing ideas presented here.
